DECISION LINE ACCESS ON THE INTERNET

by Terry R. Rakes Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

By the time this issue reaches you, summer break will be drawing to a close. I hope that you have all had a terrific summer. Also, by now all of those photos that you took at the various regional meetings held during the spring have likely been developed and enjoyed. I would like to remind you that if you have some good pictures from those meetings, or from any other activity involving Institute members, or if you have news items involving Institute members, we would like to share them in the newsletter. You may send them to Carol Latta, our Executive Director, or to me.

In the last issue, we published an article on Internet and its various services written by Clive Sanford, the Institute's computer services coordinator. I am pleased to say that since that last issue additional progress has been made in expanding the electronic availability of . All of this year's issues are now accessible through the Georgia State gopher (gopher.gsu.edu), and last year's issues will soon be available. Our goal is to put enough back issues on line so that Internet can serve as an archive for the newsletter.

Also, a keyword search feature has been added. Now you can type in a word or phrase and instantly retrieve all of the archived articles containing the keyword(s). To perform a keyword search within an individual article, select the file, and enter "/" to receive the keyword prompt. (Due to a limitation of the software, only Windows users will see the keyword highlighted on the screen.)

These advances are coming through the efforts of Hal Jacobs, our Managing Editor, and the Georgia State University Computer Center.

In addition, for the first time, the preliminary program for the 1994 Annual Meeting in Hawaii will be available on Internet by late August. Internet users will now have access to the conference program while the hard copies are still navigating bulk mail. The Internet version of the preliminary program will also be updated as changes occur, thus providing more up-to-date information and allowing you to verify that changes affecting your paper/session in the meeting have been completed.
