DSI is excited to announce the inaugural DSJ Mini-Conference hosted by DSI at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston February 10-11, 2023. Dr. Funda Sahin is the Program Chair. Decision Sciences Institute, C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, Texas A&M University, and Michigan State University are the current sponsors of this event. Additional sponsorships are welcome.
This journal specific conference is a developmental one. There will be presentations from world class scholars on a variety of topics and methodologies. The highlight of the conference is the three panel sessions from very high-level practitioners. Our panel includes Jeff Miller (CEO, President, and Chairman of the Board – Halliburton) as well as Gregg Roden (EVP & Chief Operating Officer – PepsiCo) among many other executives.
As of January 1, 2020 we require that authors motivate (and document) their work via direct interactions with relevant constituents. We also ask authors to seek insight from relevant constituents upon completion of their data analysis. Consequently, we will be hearing from two practitioner panels directly (Please see the first page of the attachment); one will focus on energy (such as from Halliburton, Lyondell, Shell amongst others) and the other will be more general (with participation from Applied Materials, Bechtel, Daikin/Goodman Global Group, Foxconn, Pepsico, and Tyson Foods). The third session will include short presentations from practitioners with defined problems that need attention by academia. This session will have a breakout session structure and the idea is to develop opportunities for collaboration between industry and academia; we strongly encourage doctoral students to attend this session.
