The People of DSI
DSI is a volunteer-run organization that has reached its current level of distinction and innovation because of the quality of people who have dedicated their time and energy over the years.

The DSI Board of Directors, comprised of DSI members, are top scholars in their fields who are chosen by the membership in annual elections. To help them carry out the mission and activities of the Institute, appointed officials devote their time and energy towards professional service, and the Executive Director and the Home Office handle administrative responsibilities, organize conferences and provide support to DSI members.

The designation of Fellow is awarded to active supporters of the Institute for outstanding contributions in at least two of the following categories: (1) research and scholarship, (2) teaching and/or administration (3) service to the Decision Sciences Institute. (For more information, see Fellows.)

Doctoral students can choose from a variety of DSI activities that are designed to prepare them for a successful academic career. Each year the Institute sponsors the Doctoral Student Consortium, which focuses on career goals, job search issues, placement services, research strategies, teaching effectiveness, manuscript reviewing, and promotion and tenure. The annual Elwood S. Buffa Doctoral Dissertation Competition recognizes outstanding doctoral research in the development of theory or applications of the decision sciences completed in the previous year. Alpha Iota Delta, the national honorary society in the decision sciences, features many student chapters on campuses nationwide.

DSI members contribute a valuable service to the academic community when they volunteer to serve on a committee, oversee a program or edit a publication. The Institute maintains a list of volunteer service to recognize the contributions of members.
